Elden Ring Bosses

Top 5 Difficult Elden Ring Bosses || Rolm

From corrupt gods and petrifying witches to monstrous henchmen and ancient beings, souls-like video games are notorious for featuring top-notch difficult bosses. Elden Ring, the winner of the 2022 GOTY award, is well renowned for featuring some of THE MOST difficult, almost impossible to defeat, world bosses!

With their big health bars, over-the-top damage, high agility, and unpredictable moveset, Elden Ring bosses are best known for pushing players over the edge of desperation and madness. They challenge players to give in their best which makes them test their limits of skills, patience, and sanity; often making them cry in despair. So much so that even the most seasoned adventurers have second thoughts knowing they are now going confront an Elden Ring boss.

Therefore, in this article, we will look at the list of the top 5 difficult Elden Ring bosses and see what makes them so dangerous.

5. Mohg, Lord of Blood

An omen demigod who specializes in blood magic, Mohg is easily one of the most difficult Elden Ring bosses. He is the twin brother of Morgott and can be found in Mohgwyn Palace.

Mohg is an optional but formidable Elden Ring boss that has 2 forms. His initial form is known as Mohg, the Omen while his later form is known as Mohg, Lord of Blood. When he transitions into his second form, only then do the players truly realize that they have got more than what they initially bargained for.

Mohg’s ability to inflict players with Bleed damage is the worst of all which quickly depletes their health bar. Also, when he slams his weapon on the ground three times, the resulting shockwaves are almost impossible to avoid and also deplete a player’s health bar. He can parry your attacks, dodge your spells, and unleash his mighty Black Flame Tornado ability, a massive whirlwind of black flames that can deal massive damage and knock you back. To fight him, it is highly recommended to have a good supply of healing items.

4. Godskin Duo

The fight with Godskin Duo is impossible not to be included in the list of the top 5 difficult Elden Ring bosses. Where encounters with other Elden Ring bosses are one-to-one, the fight with Godskin Duo comprises 2 difficult bosses; Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble.

If players wish to progress through the game’s main storyline, it is mandatory to defeat these 2 difficult bosses. Godskin Duo can be found in the Crumbling Farum Azula, a legacy dungeon in the Wailing Wastes.

While each Godskin Duo boss has its own health bar, they also have a shared health bar. If a player manages to kill one of them, the other Godskin Duo boss almost immediately resurrects its fallen comrade. In order to defeat them, players need to deplete their shared health bar. But since the player character is up against 2 difficult bosses at the same time, it becomes very hard to subdue them. Where Godskin Apostle is quick but less powerful, Godskin Noble is slow but more powerful.

As such, more often than not, the fight with Godskin Duo has seen players making use of cheap tactics in the confined space where they encounter them.

3. Starscourge Radahn

One of the four Shardbearers in Elden Ring, Starscourge Radahn is often hailed as the most difficult boss by some players. He is located in Redmane Castle which can be found in Caelid, the extreme northern area of the Lands Between.

Although optional, the fight with Starscourge Radahn kicks off miles apart and this, by no means, presents a helpful advantage to players. Starscourge Radahn is in possession of over-the-top lethal ranged attacks as well as top-notch deadlier close-range combat abilities. As soon as the fight is initiated, Starscourge Radahn breaks hell loose upon players by raining a hailstorm of giant spears and arrows. More often than not, the majority of players die while trying to close the gap, let alone fight with him up close.

And those skilled soulsborne players who somehow manage to close the distance find themselves completely helpless when Starscourge Radahn transitions into his second form. This second transformation has players witness Starscourge Radahn taking to the sky and coming crashing down like a meteor. His physical blows soon prove to be more troublesome than his already butchering ranged abilities.

No matter whatever the strongest character build players have, the fight with this Elden Ring boss is guaranteed to break you. While confronting him, it is recommended to summon all the NPC allies from their signs scattered around the sand.

2. Maliketh, The Black Blade

What starts as a seemingly straightforward fight with a beast clergyman soon turns into a deathtrap when this Elden Ring boss turns into Maliketh in its second form. He is mandatory to kill if players need to advance through the main storyline. Maliketh can be found in the Crumbling Farum Azula.

In his initial form as a Beast Clergyman, a hooded figure wielding a large sword and a shield, Maliketh limits himself to only using melee attacks and some occasional magic projectiles. When he turns into his second form, Maliketh gains access to a whole range of new lethal skills and weapons. He frequently dashes across the arena in such an irregular way that it becomes difficult to pinpoint his pattern. Because of the same reason, it is very hard to land a hit on him and deal damage. Maliketh also has access to a variety of one-hit kills which, when successfully blocked, reduces a player’s health bar to a bare minimum. All this precisely makes him one of the most difficult bosses to deal with in the game.

To defeat Maliketh, besides being patient and trying to figure out Maliketh’s behavior, players also need to be good at dodging if they want to emerge victorious.

1.  Malenia, Blade of Miquella

While Elden Ring players continue to debate the difficulty levels of Elden Ring bosses, Malenia is the one where they all agree. Although optional to fight with, she is the MOST DIFFICULT boss to confront in the game. Malenia is the twin sister of Miquella and can be found at Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree.

Of all the deadly abilities Malenia possesses, her most feared attribute is the ability to heal herself whenever she lands an attack on the player. As if healing herself was not enough, Malenia is also intelligent enough to dodge player attacks which makes it all the more difficult to land a hit on her. Coupled with her incredible speed and unpredictable moveset, encountering Malenia soon becomes a nightmare.

When in the second form, Malenia gets access to a whole range of new weapons and abilities. The pair of wings let her take it to the sky and unleash an even deadlier mayhem. She can now also summon rot-infested corpses that explode near players and make them slow down while also damaging them over time.

When dealing with this Elden Ring boss, players will need a lot of patience and perseverance. Make sure you are fully equipped with essential supplies and necessary items when coming face to face with Malenia.
