“Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games, and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.” – Neil Druckmann recently said in an interview with Buzzfeed.
As seen above, the co-president of Naughty Dog has finally made it clear to put an end to the long-running chapter of Uncharted games. Back in the day, the series captivated us with its mesmerizing treasure-hunting gameplay and practically raised the bar for single-player games of the time.
In Uncharted, players assume the role of Nathan Drake who is a treasure hunter. Seemingly, he is the descendant of the famous explorer, Francis Drake, and loves setting out on dread-filled thrilling adventures.
Now that the series has finally been concluded, it is the perfect opportunity to throw a glimpse back and see what each game was about.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Developed by Naughty Dog, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is a 2007 third-person action-adventure video game. It is the first title in the series and was launched as a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
The game’s plot revolves around El Dorado: the rumored golden city. Players control Nathan as he sets out on a breathtaking journey that takes him from the lush green jungles of South America to the mysterious ruins of an ancient civilization.
In his adventure, Nathan is accompanied by Elena Fisher and Victor Sullivan. The trio soon comes to realize that, instead of the rumored gold city, El Dorado is, in fact, a statue of gold. Nathan and company are then accosted by rival treasure hunters, Gabriel Roman and Atoq Navarro, that have their own nefarious agenda.
In Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, players find themselves navigating through treacherous waters, unraveling ancient puzzles, and outwitting their opponents. Little do they know of the dangerous secrets hidden in the statue itself that is ultimately giving rise to supernatural forces.
With an exciting combination of heart-pumping action and a captivating story, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune delivers an unforgettable gameplay experience. Will Nathan be able to overpower the mutated creatures and collect the golden statue of El Dorado?

Along the way, the company also confronts rival treasure hunters and hostile local militants. Consequently, players regularly find themselves in the midst of intense action, shocking revelations, and unexpected twists.

Although there has been another Uncharted video game after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it was a standalone title that did not feature Nathan.
Currently, Naughty Dog is actively working on The Last of Us multiplayer version and considering a third installment in the series as well. So, it is safe to say that the Uncharted game series has finally met the end of its journey.
