A new dawn is soon to shine upon the much-cherished Assassin’s Creed series. Get ready to welcome a wholly different Assassin’s Creed game in 2023, probably by the year fall. Developed by Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an upcoming single-player action-adventure video game and is the 13th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series.
The consecutive last three installments of Assassin’s Creed games took a vastly different route from the traditional gameplay of the franchise. Notably, these are Valhalla (2020), Odyssey (2018), and Origins (2017).
All these titles employ action-oriented RPG elements and neglect the much-beloved Assassin’s Creed stealth gameplay. However, it is not to say that these games are not enjoyable, on the contrary, these above-mentioned titles deliver some of the best moments in the history of Assassin’s Creed games.
Now, after a long time of playing action RPG titles, gamers are yearning for much more captivating stealth gameplay. This is where the Assassin’s Creed Mirage comes into the picture. It is defined as the game returning to the series’ roots, with a much bigger focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay.
Release Date and Platforms
As of January 28th, 2023, Ubisoft has not revealed the launch date for its upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage video game. However, it is speculated that it will be released by the fall of the year.
We estimate that it will be released somewhere between the October end and November start. Our approximation is solely based on the release dates of the last three titles in the series:
- Valhalla was launched in November 2020
- Odyssey was launched in October 2018
- Origins was launched in October 2017
However, as per reports from Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is planning to release the game in August 2023. No one knows the real reason behind this but it might be because the game has already been delayed internally twice.
As far as the gaming platforms are concerned, Ubisoft did disclose the platforms on which Assassin’s Creed mirage will be dropping. The platforms are Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Game Setting and Story Plot
Besides returning to the series’ roots, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage is also taking place in a vastly different location. For those who are not familiar with the game’s setting, get ready to feel the thrill of a lifetime. The upcoming game is all set to drop a bomb load of an unforgettable gameplay experience!
Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in 9th-century Baghdad during the Golden Age of Islam. It is a time when the Muslims were the most advanced civilization in the world. In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, get ready to have a first-hand experience of the Islamic Golden Age when, with each passing day, there was a new breakthrough in science, culture, arts, economics, as well as mathematics.
In the game, players assume the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq where his quest to seek answers and justice leads him to join an ancient organization. Experience his transition from being a local cunning street thief to attaining the highest rank of Master Assassin amongst the Hidden Ones.
Along the way, you will meet a stunning cast of characters who will help shape Basim’s destiny, including Roshan. Roshan is the Master Assassin at Alamut (the stronghold of Hidden Ones) and she takes Basim under her wings as her first true apprentice.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage pays a faithful tribute to Alamut Castle which is known as the legendary home of the Assassins who laid the foundations of the Creed. Today, it is all but a merely ruined fortress located in the Alamut region of Iran. Alamut is a Persian word that means “Eagle’s Nest”.
Moreover, in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, players will explore the enchanting beauty of Islamic Architecture and get to know the vividly colorful cultural lifestyle of traditional Islam. Players will explore the dense and vibrant city of Baghdad where its inhabitants will react to your every move.
Currently, Baghdad is the largest city in the world and is divided into four distinct districts. Each of the districts has its own particular theme. For instance, Karkh is an industrial region whereas the Round City is spotted with lush green gardens.
Each of the four unique regions hides its own secrets which are to be uncovered and brought to light. As Basim, players will interact with several historical figures that helped shape the Golden Age of Baghdad.
Furthermore, Assassin’s Creed Mirage offers the largest assortment of deadly weapons at a player’s disposal. As a versatile Assassin, you will parkour through the city while leveraging out most of your weapons as you take down your targets.
In addition, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available in 3 different bundles: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Case. Standard Edition only includes the base game while the Deluxe Edition features a Deluxe Pack and Digital Collectibles. These include a Prince of Persia-inspired outfit, skins for eagles and mounts, and weapons among many other things.
The Collector’s Case, on the other hand, is everything a Deluxe Edition is but also packs several more items. As such, with a Collector’s Case, players will get a Basim figurine, a Steel Bookcase, a map, an art book, a soundtrack, as well as a collectible brooch.
Lastly, it should be noted that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is not going to be an extensive game. It was originally planned to be released as a DLC content update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, Ubisoft later decided to release it as a standalone video game title.
